The Maine Sports Commission has announced the 3rd Annual Maine Pond Hockey Classic. The tournament will be hosted on February 6-8 at the Snow Pond Center for the Arts on Snow Pond (Messalonskee Lake) in Sidney, Maine.
Events will be held on Snow Pond and will include live hockey action by six divisions of players, of different age groups and ability levels, on 10 rinks. There will be players coming from all over the Northeast and United States, competing in Open “A,” Open “B,” Women’s, Recreational, 40+, and “College” divisions.
Spectators can warm up around one of the fire pits in the beer garden sponsored by The End Zone, open to anyone 21+. Throughout the tournament, spectators are invited to the “Up for Whatever” area, sponsored by Bud Light. Sports to try include cornhole, hockey puck curling, and shooting or skating competitions, all for fun and great prizes.
Organizers have also noted that the Polar Bear Dip has a new home with the Maine Pond Hockey Classic and all proceeds will go towards the Kid’s Kitchen at the Alfond Youth Center, serving more than 40,000 hot meals a year to approximately 200 children. The plunge is on Friday, February 6, at 6:00 pm.
