Runners looking to join the field for the 22nd running of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race on Aug. 3 will need to race to their computers for online registration, race organizers announced.
The TD Beach to Beacon is again partnering with Race Roster, offering best-in-class registration services, using the queue entry system introduced in 2018, similar to those used for other high-demand events, such as concerts, cultural and sporting events. The system allows registrants more time to complete the registration process without losing their place in the virtual line. Registration will start promptly at 7:00 am ET each day, and those wishing to participate are advised to be swift in order to secure a place in the queue.
On Wednesday, March 13, Cape Elizabeth residents will have the opportunity to register for 600 slots starting at 7:00 a.m. ET.
Registration for 4,000 slots to the general public will begin at 7:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, March 14. Runners register at the race website, www.beach2beacon.org. The race entry fee is $55.
A lottery for the 1,950 remaining slots will take place from March 14 through 11:59 p.m. on March 24, with lottery entrants announced beginning March 26.
Detailed registration information is available at http://www.beach2beacon.org/race-info/2019-registration-details/
Following close of registration and the lottery, remaining bibs will be distributed to elite athletes, new and past race charitable beneficiaries, sponsors, and over 100 Legacy runners, who have participated in every running of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K since its inception in 1998.
The race’s soon-to-be-announced 2019 beneficiary and past beneficiaries will make bibs available to runners for use in fundraising efforts. The race’s charity bib program has helped Maine nonprofits raise more than $1.6 million over the history of the event.
Online registration for the Kids Fun Run – set for Friday, Aug. 2 at Fort Williams – will begin online April 1 and continue through July 31; parents/guardians can also register their children onsite at both the race Expo and at the time of the event. More information on the Kids Fun Run is available at http://www.beach2beacon.org/race-info/kids-fun-run/
The TD Beach to Beacon draws runners from throughout the region and the world to picturesque Cape Elizabeth. The race begins near the Crescent Beach State Park entrance on Route 77, winds along tree-lined streets and past breathtaking ocean vistas and ends in Fort Williams Park at the historic Portland Head Light, the most photographed lighthouse in the world.
In 2018, the 21st running of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K included 6,526 runners from 19 countries, 43 states and more than 270 Maine cities and towns. Thousands of spectators cheered runners along the route and at the finish, and more than 800 volunteers helped ensure a smooth operation. The race debuted in 1998 with 2,408 runners crossing the finish line.
More than $90,000 in prize money is awarded to the top finishers and place winners in the various categories for men and women, and a separate $30,000 donation is provided each year by the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of the TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, to the race beneficiary.
