Manitoba Fencing Association will host the 2014 Western Canadian Fencing Championships from May 2 – 4. The Western provinces will send over 200 athletes to compete in over 300 entries, including the three fencing weapons of Sabre, Epee and Foil.
Athletes in various categories from U15, Cadet, Junior, Senior and Veteran will vie for top honors in Western Canada at the Transcona Country Club on Dugald Road.
This year marks the first time the Manitoba has hosted the Western Championships since 2009. Manitoba is home to several decorated fencers, including Cameron Mackay who won gold in Junior Sabre as part of the Canadian team at the Junior and Cadet Pan Am Championships in Guatemala in February.
