Hockey Canada's Century Tour Comes to Winnipeg

Starting this Sunday in Winnipeg, Hockey Canada brings its fully interactive hockey experience to Royal Sports at 750 Pembina Highway in celebration of their 100th Anniversary, Team Canada and local community hockey leaders from October 26-28. At the #CenturyTour caravan, fans will get to experience the state-of-the-art interactive hockey timeline and milestone artifacts, programs and activities specifically developed for kids, families and newcomers to the game.

From 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday and 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on weekdays, you can step back in hockey history with a decade-by-decade timeline of Hockey Canada on the feature wall with vignettes of key moments in Hockey Canada history, and place yourself in a famous international hockey moment in the green screen, with the opportunity to win tickets to the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships. The caravan also features interactive tablet stations, a replica of a Hockey Canada locker stall where you can see what it’s like inside a Hockey Canada dressing room and at the Speaker’s Corner, you can give your opinion on the game.

Kids will also get the chance to step inside the inflatable hockey rink for pickup games or visit Puckster’s Corner to get creative at the ministick decorating station where they can personalize their own designs or try out some temporary tattoos.

Hockey Canada’s goal is to engage more than one million fans over the course of the year with the Century Tour. We are encouraging schools, community centres and other youth organizations to come out and participate in this once in a lifetime experience. The Century Tour is not scheduled to return to Winnipeg so this opportunity will only be available next week . Hockey Manitoba reminds all eligible members about the ongoing 100th Anniversary Stick Giveaway. All registered players from across the province born in 2008 & 2009 will receive a free Reebok hockey stick with a Sidney Crosby pattern courtesy of Hockey Manitoba. Sticks can be picked up with proper registration documentation at one of the two Royal Sports locations in Winnipeg until December 31st. Royal Sports and Hockey Manitoba will also provide a 25 percent discount on regular priced hockey gear for the eligible player at time of the stick pick up.
