Calvert County, Maryland, Announces Fishing Events

Calvert County, Maryland, Department of Economic Development, has announced two fishing events for this spring.

The Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association's Southern Maryland Chapter hosts its annual fishing fair just in time for the spring trophy season. Over 100 vendors will offer a range of gear and tackle as well as crafts, seminars and entertainment for the kids. The fair runs from April 2-3, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Solomons Volunteer Fire Department, 13150 H.G. Trueman Road, Solomons.

The 35th Annual Rod 'N' Reel Captain's Association Pro-Am Sportfishing Tournament runs April 29 to May 1 at Chesapeake Beach. Grand prize is $7,000, with daily prizes ranging from $300 to $2,000. Entrants may be charter boats, boats with a licensed guide or private vessels. Visit online for more information and entry rules.
