The Laver Cup will be staged in Boston’s TD Garden for 2020, organizers have announced.
The tennis tournament returns to the US after it was held in Geneva this year, with Chicago the last North American city to host the event in 2018.
TD Garden, which opened in 1995, is currently home of the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Boston Celtics and the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Boston Bruins, and is New England’s largest sports and entertainment arena.
Next year’s tournament has been pencilled in to take place from September 27-29.
Tony Godsick, chief executive of TEAM8 and chairman of the Laver Cup, said: “Boston is the perfect setting for the Laver Cup. The city has a deep sporting culture, but it is also steeped in profound historical events, all of which resonate with the values of the Laver Cup and its tribute to the rich heritage of tennis.”
The 2019 Laver Cup saw Team Europe clinch a dramatic 13-11 win over Team World, sealed after Alexander Zverev defeated Milos Raonic, for their third victory in a row. Team World have yet to win the competition since it began three years ago.
