Collegiate Golfers May Compete for Exemption into Meijer LPGA Classic

Women Golfers Invited to Compete for Sponsor Exemption Spots in Grand Rapids Event

The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft has invited women’s players from more than a dozen universities to participate in an 18-hole qualifying tournament to fill two sponsor exemption spots in the official four-day LPGA Tour event July 23-26 in Grand Rapids, MI.

Top players from the following schools will compete in the Meijer LPGA Collegiate Invitational held June 23 at Blythefield Country Club:   

  • Davenport University
  • Ferris State University
  • Grand Valley State University
  • Indiana University
  • Michigan State University
  • Northwestern University
  • Ohio State University
  • University of Illinois
  • University of Iowa
  • University of Maryland
  • University of Michigan
  • University of Minnesota
  • University of Wisconsin

 “The Meijer LPGA Collegiate Invitational provides an opportunity to offer some of the best women collegiate athletes a chance to compete with the best women golfers in the world,” Meijer President J.K. Symancyk said. “After seeing the excitement generated within the community by the Michigan State University and University of Michigan golfers competing in the 2014 Meijer LPGA Classic, we are really looking forward to opening it to even more athletes cross the Midwest.”

The Meijer LPGA Collegiate Invitational will host nearly 40 women golfers with the top two winning exemptions to play in the Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft. 

The Meijer LPGA Classic presented by Kraft will host a full field of 144 players playing 72 holes of stroke play over four days of competition July 23-26 at Blythefield Country Club.
