The League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Summer Finals will be held at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on August 24-25, Riot Games revealed to the Esports Observer.
Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans has been announced as the first-ever presenting sponsor of the LCS Summer Finals. The company—which is based in Detroit—also sponsors 100 Thieves, which competes in the LCS. Additionally, Rocket Mortgage is a founding partner of the NBA 2K League’s Cavs Legion GC.
“After the amazing activations that Rocket Mortgage has unveiled over the last year-and-a-half as a partner of 100 Thieves, we are looking forward to an amazing show in Detroit, and a one-of-a-kind experience for our fans at the event,” said LCS commissioner Chris Greeley, in a release.
The winning team will earn $100K USD and qualify for the League of Legends World Championship later this year in Europe. The event is expected to draw more than 15,000 fans to the Little Caesars Arena, which is the home of the NBA’s Detroit Pistons and NHL’s Detroit Red Wings.
Team Liquid defeated Team SoloMid in a tense 3-2 battle at April’s LCS Spring Finals in St. Louis, propelling Riot Games’ Twitch channel to rack up 1.8M total hours watched during the event and an average concurrent viewership of (CCV) of 296K. Both numbers marked an increase over the previous year’s LCS Spring Finals, including nearly double the total hours viewed.
