The second annual Meijer State Games of Michigan Winter Games are quickly approaching. The Winter Games main festival is taking place Feb. 20-22, with some sports starting their competition this past weekend. The Winter Games features 19 different sports and 2,000+ athletes are expected to participate. The schedule of events is finalized and the Meijer State Games are ready for some fun and competitive action.

To kick off the second annual Meijer State Games of Michigan Winter Games, Opening Ceremonies will be held from 7-7:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at Cannonsburg Ski & Ride Area (6800 Cannonsburg Road N.E., Belmont, MI 49306). Opening Ceremonies is free, and festivities will include a torch light parade, fireworks, a “Big Air” exhibition featuring professional skiers and snowboarders, special appearances by Olympians, and the lighting of the cauldron to officially open the Games. Athlete check-in will be from 4-6:45 p.m. The first 250 athletes to attend Opening Ceremonies will receive a free T-shirt, and several prizes donated by sponsors.
