Officials with the Michigan Sports Alliance announced the Meijer State Games of Michigan – Winter Games sports hub in Marquette, Michigan. The inaugural event will be held Feb. 25-27, 2022 and is open to all ages and ability levels. The traditional winter sports festival will feature 8 sporting events at 6 venues as well as an opening ceremony (Feb. 25, 2022) presented by Northern Michigan University.
Winter Games sports will include cross country skiing, curling, figure skating, ice hockey, luge, Nordic combined, ski & snowboard and ski jumping. All registered athletes and spectators will receive free admission to the 2022 opening ceremony presented by Northern Michigan University. The opening ceremony will be held at Marquette Mountain Resort and will feature a parade of athletes, lighting of the cauldron and entertainment (TBA). More information will be released on the opening ceremony soon.
