Tae Park Tae Kwon Do World Class Championship returns to Grand Rapids Community College Ford Fieldhouse for its third consecutive year. The event will take place on Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24, 2009 starting at 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Spectators are welcome and admission is $5.00 for the day. All proceeds from the tournament will provide funding for scholarships that allows Tae Park Tae Kwon Do athletes to travel and compete internationally.
The Tae Park Tae Kwon Do World Class tournament is celebrating Grand Master Park's 50 years as a Black Belt. This is a tremendous testament to the Grand Master Tae Zee Park and is a celebration of his work and leadership.
Grand Masters will be traveling to Grand Rapids from all across the world. Over six hundred national and international athletes will be competing and represent multiple countries including Peru, Australia, South Korea, and Brazil.
According to the Tournament Director, Jim Heglund, this specific tournament will be "the most exciting one to date because of the variety of people coming from across the world."
The tournament will also incorporate a cultural exchange celebration, which will immerse the various athletes into different cultural experiences. The exchange program will begin at noon on October 24, 2009 with performances by a premier Korean National Dance Team, a group of Native American dancers, and many more.
