Polar Fest Coming to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota

Polar Fest packs more than two weeks with events to celebrate winter in Detroit Lakes! Many events are free.

Fish the Poles 'N Holes Fishing Derby, take the Polar Fest Plunge into Detroit Lake (or cheer on the jumpers), run the Freeze Your Buns 5K and watch the spectacular frozen fireworks at the City Beach Saturday, February 26!

More fun events include Ice climber Kendra Stritch presentation, vintage snowmobile rally, live Theatre performances, skiing on Detroit Mountain, lazer tubing, hotdish challenge, ice and snow sculptures, illuminated City Park and lessons to fat bike, snowshoe and skishoe! Cool Kites on Ice returns on LIttle Detroit Lake and Fandazzi Fire Circus performs at the City Park bandshell.

Be sure to see the largest Ice Palace yet at 32′ tall x 95′ wide x 24’ deep! The Detroit Lakes Ice Palace is constructed of ice harvested from Little Detroit Lake. Located on the Detroit Lakes City Beach next to the historic Pavilion, snap your selfies on King Isbit’s throne. You're invited to the Ice Palace Grand Lighting 7 pm, February 11, 2022.
