Starkville is Mississippi’s College Town - and athletics is a part of life. We make it easy to plan, organize and host tournaments large and small. Plenty of convenient lodging, dining, shopping and entertainment options make the most of downtime. And it’s all within a few minutes from any of our sports facilities. So your fans and families have the freedom to rest, relax and refresh between cheering.
FACILITIES
Cornerstone Sports Complex opened for the 2024 season with 12 tournament-ready baseball/softball diamonds. The complex also features batting cages and warm-up areas for between-round practices as well as playgrounds, walking trails, concessions and community areas to keep families entertained. The 124-acre facility offers plenty of space and parking to host large regional tournaments with full facility lighting and comfortable seating for late innings.
Starkville Sportsplex offers seven soccer fields (both natural grass and turf) and eight baseball/softball fields. Restrooms, picnic areas and internet provide comfort for the crowds. The adjacent Travis Outlaw Center can provide indoor meeting rooms and additional facilities.
AMENITIES
From boutique hotels to conference centers, Starkville offers plenty of convenient lodging and amenities to handle tournaments of any scale. Everything is nearby in Starkville. You’re never more than 15 minutes away from the fields. So it’s easy for your crowd to come and go between games. No congested commutes or traffic to deal with.
Once they’re off the field, it’s easy to enjoy Mississippi’s College Town. Of course, Mississippi State University always offers plenty to do – from Bulldog athletics to the (well air-conditioned) history of the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library. Or just enjoy a stroll across campus and some famous Mississippi State ice cream.
Being a college town, there’s no shortage of refreshments and diversions. Our Main Street and Cotton District areas are easily walkable for maximum leisure time and easy logistics for entertaining large groups. You’ll find restaurants ready to feed hungry teams as well as finer dining corners for more peace and quiet – and maybe a nice glass of wine.
Boutiques, book stores and coffee shops also offer easy diversions during the day. If your crowd is up for night life, they’ll have no problem finding that, or at least a nice balcony bar to people watch.
OUTDOORS
If you’re not quite ready to head inside, it’s easy to sneak away for a little fishing or birdwatching in the Noxubee Wildlife Refuge. Top-ranked golf courses at MSU, Mossy Oak and Old Waverly also offer a great excuse to stretch your legs and perfect your backswing. Starkville has also become a disc golf destination, with easy access to a public course (and a dedicated disc golf shop if you need to get equipped).
