Action Floor Systems®, a manufacturer of maple sports flooring systems and supplier of premium synthetic sports and commercial flooring systems, congratulates Cape Girardeau SportsPlex of Cape Girardeau, MO, on being recognized as the Outstanding Courts and Recreation Facility of the Year by the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA).
The Outstanding Courts and Recreation Facility of the Year award is the highest in its division. Projects are individually scored based on various factors, such as surface, design and layout, site work, base construction, innovation and overall impression.
“It was an honor to be a part of the construction of the Cape Girardeau SportsPlex and supply a major portion of the flooring utilized for competitions of all levels and athletes across the country,” Ron Fenhaus, Action Floors vice president of sales, said. “We want to congratulate the team who made this project possible and thank ASBA for recognizing the craftsmanship of this beautiful facility.”
57,600 square feet of Action AnchorFlex hardwood maple floor system was installed in the athletic facility. This anchored resilient system was chosen due to the system’s certification by the European Standard (EN). To become EN certified, a floor must meet various performance standards, including durability and shock absorption.
The state-of-the-art Cape Girardeau SportsPlex is the first of its kind in the region and was conceptualized by the city’s parks and recreation department.
The city of Cape Girardeau serves as a hub for a variety of industries, including entertainment, medical, retail, and higher education; however, with no facility in the area large enough to host multi-event tournaments or regional competitions, Cape Girardeau was lacking the features and amenities needed to attract visitors.
This premier athletic facility allows Cape Girardeau to accommodate tournaments, programs, and events of all sizes as well as helps drive tourism.
