GO! St. Louis, a non-profit organization that specializes in providing fitness events and programs for the region on a year-round basis, announced that the GO! For A Cause charity program helped 27 area charities raise $367,342 for their causes as part of the 13th edition GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend.
The program debuted in 2010, and continues to expand each year to include new charities and opportunities for official partners to increase fundraising and visibility for their cause. Since the program’s inception, more than $1,079,114 has been raised for a variety of local charities.
GO! For A Cause encourages other non-profit organizations to recruit stakeholders to participate in the annual GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend, while raising donations for a charity. GO! St. Louis partners with charities by providing them the tools to implement the program, while promoting their participation through social media and traditional marketing. In 2013, more than 1,000 runners and walkers participated in the program on behalf of a selected charity.
Organizations included in the 2013 program included: GO! St. Louis Team for Kids, Alvin J. Siteman Cancer Center, Alzheimer’s Association St. Louis Chapter, Angels’ Arms, Cultural Leadership, Family Resource Center, Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition, Gateway to Hope, Habitat for Humanity, Team Living Water, Kids Rock Cancer, Promo Fund, Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Leukemia & Lymphoma’s Team in Training, HavenHouse St. Louis, H.I.S. K.I.D.S., Inc, Ignatian Spirituality Project, The Magic House, Muscular Dystrophy Association, National Multiple Sclerosis Society Gateway Area Chapter, Operation Shower, Pujols Family Foundation, The Rose Foundation, Share Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support, Inc., St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. Louis Language Immersion Schools, Inc. and Girls on the Run.
GO! St. Louis, a local non-profit organization, encourages individuals and families in the St. Louis region to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle year round. The organization accomplishes this through community collaborations, school based programming and the creation of new and unique fitness events.
