New hotels continue to dot the landscape in Kansas City, offering upscale accommodations, dining, amenities and more.

Since 2020, two new hotels have opened, with three more set to open this fall. From historic renovations to brand-new properties, here’s the latest buzz on Kansas City’s hotel scene.

The new 238-room AC Hotel Kansas City Downtown is slated to hold its grand opening this September after taking over the historic Rialto Building.

Just steps from premier attractions like T-Mobile Center, the Power & Light District and the Kansas City Convention Center, guests will be able to dine at AC Kitchen + Café and then enjoy drinks and Spanish tapas at AC Lounge.

Opening in September, the 118-room Origin Hotel Kansas City will be the first hotel to take up residence in the city’s thriving Berkley Riverfront.

This new boutique hotel is within walking distance of the history-making CPKC Stadium, home of the KC Current, and the upcoming Kansas City Streetcar extension. Origin Hotel will also feature over 4,800 square feet of meeting space, farm-to-table dining at its onsite restaurant, Show Pony, and locally inspired art throughout.

Less than three miles from Kansas City International Airport’s new, nationally recognized terminal, the upcoming Atwell Suites Kansas City Airport is set to open in November.

This 104-suite property is designed to help travelers seamlessly switch between work and rest with coworking spaces, a private meeting room and a 24-hour fitness studio.

New Properties
Kansas City is also still celebrating the October 2023 opening of the Cascade Hotel Kansas City, in the luxurious Country Club Plaza neighborhood.

With 175 rooms, this modern hotel offers a food hall with four unique restaurant concepts, a rooftop bar, full-service spa, and stunning views of the Plaza’s Spanish architecture. The property also has nearly 15,000 square feet of meeting space with its largest room able to hold 450 people for events of all sizes.

Its sister property Aloft Hotel Country Club Plaza opened in January 2023. The $100 million dual-hotel development is connected via a walkway, allowing guests to take advantage of amenities at both hotels.

Renovations & Remodels
Meanwhile, several other Kansas City hotels have undergone significant renovations. Here are a few of the highlights.

The Holiday Inn Kansas City Downtown, located between the busting Central Business District and the River Market, reopened after a $20 million renovation in December 2022. The updates included work on the 110 rooms, common space, restaurant and event space.

The Hilton Country Club Plaza completed an $8 million renovation in June 2023. All 257 rooms saw upgrades, as well as public spaces, approximately 2,800 square feet of event space and more.

More Recent Openings
The impressive Loews Kansas City Hotel includes 800 guestrooms, a lobby bar, a signature restaurant, indoor lap pool and 60,000 square feet of meeting and event space, which connects directly to the Kansas City Convention Center via a bridge.

Opened in June 2020, the hotel is within walking distance of key attractions and other destination landmarks like the Kansas City Power & Light District, T-Mobile Center, KC Streetcar and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

The 144-room Hotel Kansas City opened in Downtown's iconic Kansas City Club building in October 2020.

The property’s thoughtful design fosters moments of great nostalgia, paying homage to the building's history as a prominent 1920s social club. Amenities include The Town Company restaurant, a cellar saloon and over 20,000 square feet of event space, including multiple ballrooms and a 6,000-square-foot rooftop.
