For the first time ever, NASCAR and Gateway Motorsports Park official have agreed on a five-year deal to bring the Camping World Truck series to town through 2020. The 2016 race event moves two weekends later in the schedule to June 25, 2016, and will again be held under the lights in primetime at the 1.25-mile NASCAR Speedway located just four miles from the historic St. Louis Gateway Arch.
"The 2014 Drivin’ for Linemen 200 Camping World Truck Series marked the historical return of NASCAR to St. Louis,” said Gateway Motorsports Park owner and President Curtis Francois. “This five-year agreement is a tremendous testament to the energy and enthusiasm that racing fans in the region have demonstrated to NASCAR officials. With this commitment from NASCAR, our 20-year agreement with the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) for the world’s best drag racing, the five-year sponsorship agreement with AAA Insurance for the NHRA Midwest Nationals and the interest from Indycar officials to bring Indycars back to Gateway Motorsports Park in 2016, the St. Louis region is positioned again to be one of the hottest motorsports markets in the country thanks to our fans and sponsors. These long-term commitments should give fans, sponsors, business partners and civic leaders the confidence that professional racing in the region will be around for a very long time. ”
“For more than 20 years, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has been home to some of the closest side-by-side racing in the sport, and we’re committed to delivering that to our fans for many years to come,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer. “We expect that the stability of five-year agreements will benefit the entire industry, and anticipate the continuation of compelling NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship battles, like the one we’re watching unfold in 2015.”
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series closes the 2016 season with five events in five weekends, including three triple-header weekends with the NASCAR Sprint Cup and NASCAR XFINITY Series at Texas Motor Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway, and Homestead-Miami Speedway. FOX Sports will provide broadcast coverage of every race event in the 2016 NASCAR Camping World Truck season.
Elite Utility Support, the 2014 sponsor of this historic race, has renewed its support for 2016 to help bring awareness to electrical linemen as first responders. “Today, because of the great success of the 2014 and 2015 Drivin’ for Linemen 200, millions of Americans better understand the sacrifices of American linemen and their families,” said Chad Dubea, President of Elite Utility Support.
Official ticket renewals for the 3rd Annual Drivin' for Linemen 200 will begin on Monday, November 23, 2015 and will continue until Friday, December 4, 2015. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday, December 7, 2016.
