The USTA today announced the refurbishment of the stadium court at the Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center in St. Louis, as a part of the USTA’s Fed Cup Legacy program. The legacy program, started more than a decade ago, is designed to leave a lasting mark in the communities which host Fed Cup ties in the United States.
The main stadium court at the Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center in St. Louis, which seats 1,700 spectators, recently completed the process of being resurfaced as a US Open “blue” hard court with blended lines for youth tennis play.
St. Louis hosted Fed Cup for the first time when it held the World Group Playoff, where the United States faced France from April 19-20 at the Chaifetz Arena. The U.S. Fed Cup team visited the Dwight Davis Tennis Center during the week of Fed Cup and took part in a clinic with local youth.

With this Fed Cup Legacy project, we are proud to leave a lasting footprint in this town by refurbishing the stadium court at the Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center, which is fitting that it is named after Davis, who created so much tennis history with Davis Cup.”
The $15,000 project is jointly funded by the USTA, the USTA Missouri Valley section, and monies generated from Fed Cup in April. With a Fed Cup Legacy, USTA professional tennis and community tennis departments partner to leave a lasting impression in communities that host Fed Cup ties.
The Dwight Davis Memorial Tennis Center, a public tennis facility with 18 lighted tennis courts and a stadium court, is named after Dwight Davis, who in 1900 founded Davis Cup, the men’s equivalent to Fed Cup. Davis was born in St. Louis in 1879 and in addition to his Davis Cup impact, he spent his life working to make tennis in public parks available to all.
Fed Cup by BNP Paribas is the World Cup of Tennis. It is the largest annual international team competition in women’s sport, with 95 nations taking part in 2014. The U.S. leads all nations with 17 Fed Cup titles, the last coming in 2000.
