SKOOKUM, an event dedicated to bringing a variety of high-energy, disciplined and dedicated athletes under one roof, is coming to Billings, Mont., Saturday, November 9. SKOOKUM – Billings will take place at The Montana Pavilion at 9 a.m. The event features seven distinct athletic disciplines – CrossFit, Karate, Judo, Weightlifting, Taekwondo, Fencing and Pole Vault.
SKOOKUM events are a celebration of total chaos, with no two events alike. The event features high-energy atmospheres with events that can include, and are not limited to, CrossFit, weightlifting, body building, wrestling, fencing, boxing, muay-thai, karate, judo, taekwondo, sumo wrestling, arm wrestling and more.
Admission to SKOOKUM is $12, while registered athletes and children under the age of 12 are admitted for free. Registration for the event is still open on the SKOOKUM website.
SKOOKUM – Billings is the second event of the SKOOKUM series and is the result of the Billings Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) and Billings Chamber of Commerce/Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) sport recruitment efforts. “Sport tourism is a great niche for Billings. We have diverse facilities, enthusiasm and ample community support. SKOOKUM – Billings illustrates these efforts,” explained Billings TBID/CVB Executive Director, Alex Tyson, IOM. SKOOKUM will host approximately 10 events throughout the country in the near future. Events are currently being planned for Seattle, Portland, Boise, British Columbia, and Las Vegas.
The 2013 SKOOKUM series is sponsored, in part, by Hylete, Crowne Plaza – Billings, Atlas Power Wraps, the Billings Tourism Business Improvement District and the Billings Chamber/Convention and Visitors Bureau.
