The Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is hosting the first professional women’s tennis tournament held in Nebraska.

Play for the Lincoln Pro Women’s Tennis Open powered by Ameritas begins with qualifying matches on Monday, November 4 and concludes with the Doubles finals on Saturday, November 9 and Singles finals on Sunday, November 10.

“We are super excited to have the first ever women’s pro tennis event in Lincoln,” says German Dalmagro, head women’s tennis coach for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. “We look forward to having some of the best players in the world come to Lincoln to compete and showcase their abilities,” Dalmagro adds.

As a sanctioned International Tennis Federation event, players from the United States, Great Britain, Kenya, Germany, Czechia, Egypt, China and Japan will compete with matches beginning daily at 11:00 a.m., with all matches held indoors at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center, the home of Husker men’s and women’s tennis.

Admission is free for the week-long event, which will feature both women’s singles and doubles matches. Players will be competing for a total prize purse of $15,000.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to see great tennis, but also great for the players participating to see our vibrant city of Lincoln and our welcoming community. It’s also a good opportunity for the Nebraska tennis players to compete at a professional level on their home courts, showcasing our commitment to women’s tennis as we look to continue to elevate our program to the highest level,” Dalmagro concludes.
This is the second professional tennis tournament hosted by Lincoln in 2024, with the ATP’s Lincoln Challenger event held at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center in August.
