More than 600 competitors from 76 clubs are scheduled to race this weekend at the 2023 USRowing Atlantic City Indoor National Championships at the Atlantic City Convention Center in New Jersey.
The event is being run concurrently with RowCon 2023 presented by Filippi and offers events in the under 15, under 16, under 17, under 19, under 23, open, para, and masters categories. In addition to the traditional 2,000-meter format, competitors have the opportunity to compete in a triathlon with the erg, bike erg and ski erg, as well as 500-meters sprints, watts tests, and more. Medals will be up for grabs across 65 categories.
The men's under 19 category leads the way in entry numbers with 139 athletes scheduled to race. The men's under 17 category has 99 entries. On the women's side, the under 19 event has 54 entries. All three of those events are scheduled to take place on Saturday.
Sunday's racing is highlighted by 26 entries in the men's youth 500-meter sprint and 21 entries in the men's under 23 category. Two athletes are scheduled to race in the men's triathlon event, which includes the rowing, bike, and ski ergs.
As a club, Moorestown High School Rowing Club has the most entries with 73 athletes scheduled to compete, followed by South Jersey Rowing Club with 41 entries. At 77, Vesper Boat Club's Barbara Hogan and John Master (unaffiliated) are the two oldest competitors, while 10-year-olds Gabriel Martinez and Lan Nguyen, both of Our Lady Star of the Sea School, are the youngest competitors.
Racing will be streamed live on USRowing's YouTube channel. Racing gets underway at 9 a.m. on Saturday and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. A complete schedule can be found here, while results can be found here.
