Atlantic City Sports Commission Partners with Grand Prix

The Atlantic City Sports Commission, powered by Meet AC has partnered with the Atlantic City Offshore Grand Prix to bring back one of the biggest offshore powerboat races around, “ROAR AT THE JERSEY SHORE.”

This year, offshore racing will be returning to Atlantic City for the third year in a row and with the support of GEICO, the Atlantic City Sports Commission and the Golden Nugget Hotel Casino and Marina, the fastest boats in the world will return to the city’s beaches this summer, the weekend of June 19-21, 2015. “We are thrilled to have the Offshore Power Boat Races coming back to Atlantic City. Race weekend will provide Atlantic City with a great opportunity to showcase all of the great things we have to offer outside of the casinos! With the race being at the end of June, we expect great weather for an outstanding event,” stated Tom Pohlman, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Golden Nugget Atlantic City.

The Atlantic City Sports Commission is proud to announce the partnership with the Atlantic City Offshore Grand Prix. “We are thrilled to partner with the Atlantic City Offshore Grand Prix. This event is widely known and it’s a staple event to have here in Atlantic City,” said Jim Wood, President & CEO of Meet AC.

 “As we are in the third year of this event, we are excited to see the support of the event grow. The support from the city, hotels, casinos and the race teams has been amazing! The racing along the beaches will be breathtaking and most importantly we are giving back to our veterans and the youth of Atlantic City Schools. Atlantic City offers world class hotels, casinos, restaurants, beaches, shopping, entertainment and much more! AC has it all,” stated Dave Patnaude, Race Chairman and Director of the NJ Offshore Powerboat Racing Association.

The race will take place on Sunday, June 21 from 12:00pm-4:00pm along the city’s beaches with the northern-most turn point at the Steel Pier and the southern-most turn point at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino. Boats from 21 to 50 feet in length will compete on Sunday to determine the winners in seven different classes, with speeds ranging from 60 mph to 170 mph. The event will be free and open to the public both on the water and at the Race Village at the Golden Nugget.  Other race locations include Seaside Heights the weekend of May 29 and Hoffman’s Marina in Brielle the week of July 6.
