IRONMAN has announced that general registration for the 2024 edition of the Athletic Brewing IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon, part of the VinFast IRONMAN North America Series, has sold out.
With the sell-out, IRONMAN adds that approximately 3,200 registered athletes will take the start line for the 25th year anniversary of the event – which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
For those still trying to gain entry into 2024 Athletic Brewing IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon, a limited number of entries remain available through The IRONMAN Foundation and Enhanced Athlete Event Experiences powered by NIRVANA.
“We are tremendously proud to announce that Athletic Brewing IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon has officially sold out for the 25th anniversary of the event,” said Dave Christen, Senior Regional Director for The IRONMAN Group.
“With a quarter century of racing and unforgettable moments, Lake Placid, New York, has proven to be one of the most sought-after destinations on the IRONMAN circuit. This announcement is yet another testament to the power of racing at IRONMAN Lake Placid, an achievement that so many athletes are eager to attain. We can’t wait to celebrate in the Adirondacks next year.”
Nestled amidst the Adirondack Mountains, the event became the first IRONMAN branded event in the continental United States and only the second in North America, behind the IRONMAN Canada triathlon, when it was introduced in 1999.
The 2024 Athletic Brewing IRONMAN Lake Placid course begins with a 2.4-mile swim in Mirror Lake. Then a two-loop 112-mile bike course takes athletes through the Adirondacks, featuring a long descent down to the village of Keene and finishing with an 11-mile climb through the Wilmington Notch taking athletes past Whiteface Mountain.
The two-loop run course sees athletes pass the Horse Show Grounds and the Olympic Ski Jumps before following River Road and the challenging climb back into town. The race culminates with an finish line experience on the Olympic Oval used in the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics.
For the 25th anniversary in 2024, IRONMAN adds that the event will feature special festivities throughout race week. This includes a welcome ceremony honouring past champions, an expo showcasing triathlon gear and nutrition, and community events that bring together athletes, families, and residents alike.
IRONMAN will also unveil a range of limited-edition Athletic Brewing IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon merchandise, including commemorative apparel, accessories, and collectibles.
