Erie Canalway Announces Sports Events for Fall

The Erie Canalway has offered sports events catering to the interests of those with athletic and historic interests.

Technical Assistance Grants (TAG) Available
Grants are available from the Preservation League of New York State and the NYS Council on the Arts for consulting projects that preserve New York State's cultural and historic resources. Fall applications are due Monday, September 11, 2017.
 Prospective applications must first discuss their project with League staff.

Voyages on the Canal- A Special Invitation

Fazool's Restaurant, Market Street, Brockport

Meet and greet the captain and crew of canal schooner Lois McClure and also enjoy an engaging presentation of a kayak paddle trip of NY's canals and Lake Champlain with paddler Paul Comstock. Q&A on planning your own Lake Champlain or NYS canal paddle trip to follow.

The Heartland Passage Tour

This unique performance event will travel on the Erie Canal September 2 - 23 to celebrate the bicentennial of the digging of the canal and demonstrate its cultural and historic impact through songs, stories and the documentary film "Boom and Bust."

St. Johnsville Fall Celebration of the Erie Canal

Relax and enjoy St. Johnsville at its finest, with over 50 talented artisans, live music, and guided tours of historic Erie Canal Lock 33.

Tugboat Roundup
9/8-9/10, Waterford Harbor at Lock 2, Waterford
One weekend each year Waterford's historic waterfront is transformed back into a rendering of its commercial heyday with prominent tugboats and demonstrations to educate and promote the New York State Waterways and canal system. Enjoy tours of vessels, demonstrations, vendors and entertainment.

Summers End Event
9/16, Ames Museum, Village of Ames
Usher in the fall season in the bucolic Village of Ames in the Mohawk River Valley with vendors, crafters, and re-enactors sharing their expertise to bring the rich history of this part of the Erie Canalway to life. A 5K race and tours of the museum round out the day.
