The USA Skeleton Push Championships, presented by Mananalu Water, will take place in the new state-of-the-art ice facility in Lake Placid from September 27-28. The competition will be from 10 am- 12 pm on each day, and the athlete with the lowest combined time over the two days in each discipline will be declared the winner.
“We have a mix of veterans and athletes just entering the sport competing together next week,” said USA Skeleton Head Coach Tuffy Latour. “Push championships are a great way for athletes to prepare for the season.”
USA Skeleton Push Championships do not have a bearing on team selection and are not mandatory for athletes to compete in, but it does provide the coaching staff with important data and gives athletes the opportunity to train under the guidance of the national team coaching staff.
“This is a brand new facility, so every time an athlete takes a run we’re able to collect important information,” Latour said. “It’s great having the opportunity to work with athletes who otherwise wouldn’t spend time with the national team coaches. We’re excited to get into competition mode, and to get ready for the Olympic season.”
The event will be broadcast live on the USA Bobsled/Skeleton Facebook page.
