The 58th AAU Junior Olympic Games kicks off tomorrow, running from July 24 through August 3 in multiple venues across the Triad.

More than 1,000 athletes from North Carolina will compete. This is the third time Greensboro has hosted the event and the city has already been tabbed to host the event in 2029 and 2033.

The AAU Junior Olympic Games is the largest multi-sport event for youth in the United States. More than a dozen sports will be featured, including the largest sport at the Games, track and field, which includes more than 12,000 athletes.

Notable AAU Junior Olympic Games alumni include 2024 track and field Olympians Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Erriyon Knighton.

  • Fencing – July 29-31 – Greensboro Coliseum
  • Taekwondo – July 29-August 2 – Greensboro Coliseum
  • Track and Field – July 29-August 3 -- North Carolina A&T
  • Dance – July 30-31 – Greensboro Coliseum
  • Field Hockey – July 30-August 1 – Wake Forest
