May 30, 2024

Greater Raleigh is gearing up to host an impressive month of professional, college and amateur sports. In total, these upcoming events will draw an estimated 28,000 attendees and are expected to generate more than 30,000 hotel room nights for the area. The Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance (GRSA), a division of the Greater Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau (Visit Raleigh), estimates the area will see more than $25 million in economic impact from hosting all these events throughout the county. These upcoming events exemplify Greater Raleigh's status as a premier sports event destination, with the impressive stretch continuing into the summer months with the U.S. Olympic Swim Team’s Domestic Training Camp taking place this July at Triangle Aquatic Center and the U.S. Open, hosted at nearby Pinehurst Golf Resort from June 13-16.

“Greater Raleigh is preparing to host an extensive variety of sporting events over what will be a jam-packed month coming up. It will include everything from youth baseball to regional swimming to a pair of NCAA national championships to one of the most unique and fast-growing soccer events in the world. These events will drive economic impact in our region and further strengthen our reputation as one of America’s premier sports event destinations.” said Scott Dupree, GRSA Executive Director.
