California Sports Surfaces, a division of ICP Construction, and the Winston-Salem Open, an ATP World Tour event, are pleased to announce the signing of DecoTurf as the Official Surface of the Winston-Salem Open through 2020.
Utilizing the US Open Blue™ – US Open Green™ color scheme, the Wake Forest Tennis Complex will be hosting this exciting event for the eighth consecutive year. The 48-player singles draw tournament – which is the final event of the US Open Series – will take place August 19-25, 2018 on the campus of Wake Forest University and will provide the top players in the world with an opportunity to fine tune their hardcourt games before they travel to New York for the U.S. Open.
“California Sports Surfaces is a proud supporter and supplier to tennis events globally and we are excited to confirm that the Winston-Salem Open will continue as a long-term partner”, said Steven Lock, California Sports Surfaces Global VP.
“DecoTurf is one of our three Grand Slam brands and for it to be once again selected for elite level tennis by our experienced partners and excellent tournament organizers in Winston-Salem, is a true testament to the product’s quality and playability.” Bill Oakes, Winston-Salem Open Tournament Director added, “The Winston-Salem Open truly values our partnership with California Sports Surfaces and their Grand Slam surface DecoTurf. Offering our players a proven, consistent, quality surface is vital to our ability to attract many of the world’s best tennis players to the final ATP event leading into the US Open. We look forward to a long relationship with California Sports Surfaces, the global leader in the court surfacing industry.”
Leading up to the 2018 Winston-Salem Open, the Wake Forest Tennis Complex will be the host site for the 2018 Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I championships (May 17-28), with this competition also played on the DecoTurf surface. Since 2012, this site has hosted the Wake Forest Demon Deacons Men’s and Women’s tennis teams. Currently, both teams are ranked in the country’s Top 10 – with the Men’s team holding the #1 NCAA ranking.
The 2018 Winston-Salem Open will be held August 18 through 25 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex adjacent to BB&T Field. The Winston-Salem Open was awarded the 2016 ATP World Tour 250 Tournament of the Year as voted by the ATP Players.
