FEATURED SPORTS SITES
Segra Stadium
The Fayetteville Woodpeckers, a Houston Astros Class A Minor League Team, begin play at Segra Stadium in April of 2019. The $40 million-dollar facility will house the Big South Baseball Championship for the next three years. When the Woodpeckers are not home, Segra Stadium is open for sports tournaments, concerts and other special events.
Crown Complex
The $55 million, four building Crown Complex has hosted NBA games, pro boxing matches, NHL exhibition games and others. Located directly on Interstate 95 Business, this multiuse complex offers two buildings for sports events, including the state-of-the-art Crown Coliseum that opened in October 1997. With seating for 13,500, this versatile facility can host ice hockey, arena football, boxing, rodeos and high school, college and professional basketball games and tournaments.
Across the parking lot from the Crown Coliseum is Crown Arena, which seats up to 5,000 and can host a wide variety of athletic competitions such as wrestling, basketball, cheerleading and soccer tournaments. Just over 2,000 rooms are available within a 10-minute drive from the Crown Complex.
Capel Arena at Fayetteville State University
Serving as the home site for the Fayetteville State University Broncos’ men’s and women’s basketball teams, Felton J. Capel Arena is known as one of the best in the NCAA’s Division II. Featuring more than 12,000 square feet of competition space, the arena house an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a 4,000-seat basketball arena, indoor track, racquetball courts, outdoor tennis courts and the FSU athletic department’s training facility.
Jordan Soccer Complex
This $1.5 million, eight-field Jordan Soccer Complex is said to be one of the finest facilities in the South. The complex, adjacent to Methodist University, features high-quality Bermuda grass fields with a full-service snack bar, a picnic shelter, restrooms and ample parking.
Located just 6 miles north of downtown Fayetteville, the Jordan Soccer Complex is home to the Fayetteville Soccer Club.
McCormick Farms
With more than 1,000 acres, McCormick Farms offers the ability to host a vast array of competitions and athletic activities. Most notably, this site is host to Fayetteville’s very own Spartan Race, attended by thousands of participants every year.
Complete with rich, dense forest, rolling hills, steep riverbanks and perfectly manicured fields, competitors can test their skills on a whole new level.
