Butler County Visitors Bureau Scores $1.2 Million Lacrosse Tournament

Capping off months of effort, the Butler County Visitors Bureau announced today that West Chester, Ohio will host the inaugural Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) deBeer Midwest Cup in June 2015.   

Over 5,300 athletes and supporters from around the country will travel to compete June 27-28, 2015 in Voice of America Park. The tournament will represent the first time Corrigan Sports, a major sports event company, has held a tournament in the Midwest. The event’s athletes, supporters and spectators are expected bring an estimated $1.2 million impact to the local economy.  

“As the exclusive management company of the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association recruiting tournament series, we are excited to expand our IWLCA tournament portfolio and bring the inaugural IWLCA deBeer Midwest Cup to West Chester, Ohio,” said Lee Corrigan, President of Corrigan Sports. “Being able to utilize twelve fields at one location is extremely beneficial as it allows us to give both the college coaches as well as the student-athletes a great tournament experience.” 

The tournament will feature girls club teams representing high school classes of 2016, 2017, and 2018. The tournament’s “showcase format” will allow athletes the opportunity for exposure to college coaches and programs. Women’s lacrosse follows the same general rules as traditional men’s lacrosse with slight modifications for number of players, physical contact and general field set up.
