USA Synchro has announced that the Ohio State synchronized swimming team will host its first "Sync Cancer" Pelotonia Fundraising event Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. in McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in honor of Buckeye alumna Emily Marsh Fleming. This swim-a-thon will benefit Pelotonia's Team Buckeye, a peloton in the grassroots bike tour to fund cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center--Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Since its inception in 2009, Pelotonia has raised more than $42 million for cancer research.
The goal for this event is for 100 registered participants to swim one mile. Donations will also be accepted in lieu of swimming. All proceeds from this event, including the registration fee, will go directly to Team Buckeye's contribution to cancer research.

ABOUT EMILY MARSH-FLEMING: This event is inspired by Buckeye alumna Emily Marsh Fleming, a four-time All-American on the Ohio State synchronized swimming team from 1994-1997. Fleming was named a four-time Collegiate National team champion and a six-time Collegiate National event champion. Fleming served as an alternate on the 2000 U.S. Synchronized Swimming Olympic Team and was inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003. Since being diagnosed with breast cancer, Fleming has participated in Pelotonia three times, most recently riding 75 miles.
