USA Gymnastics announced the 2021 VIP Classic, which was originally scheduled for March, will be held February 25-28 in Marion, Ohio, and will serve as a selection event for 2021 international competitions for the U.S. Trampoline & Tumbling Program.
Athlete performances from the event will contribute towards selection for the 2021 World Championships and World Age Group competitions as well as a re-ranking of National Team members. The competition will also serve as one of three selection events for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic team should the U.S. qualify an athlete slot for the men’s and/or women’s individual trampoline discipline.
“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with the VIP Classic,” said Jacqui Godfrey, Director of USA Gymnastics’ Trampoline & Tumbling Program. “The competition has served as a key part of our selection process for the past two years with great success, and we’re excited to partner again in 2021.
“We’d like to thank event hosts Amber Franke and Konstantin Gulisashvili, as well as everyone who submitted a proposal during the bid process. While complications created by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic have delayed this announcement, we appreciate the patience shown by our community members and look forward to the 2021 competition season.”
