Last week USA BMX announced the relaunch of the USA BMX National Championship Series with the inaugural Nabholz Bounce Back Nationals presented by MidAmerica Industrial Park to held in Pryor, Oklahoma at Mayes County BMX on June 5-7. USA BMX has worked extensively with local and state officials to ensure the event can be hosted safely and in line with the state of Oklahoma’s Open Up & Recover Safely (OURS) plan. The result of these efforts generated a sound operational plan to address the concerns of social distancing, sanitation, customer interaction and other event specific modifications.

BMX has many structural advantages which allow for safe participation and streamlined safety protocols including: individual sport, small number of competitors competing on a large outdoor field of play, primarily youth demographic, non-contact sport and safety equipment which includes full face helmets, long sleeve shirts, pants and gloves.

"USA BMX remains committed to providing a safe, quality and fun environment for BMX racing at both the local and national level. For the past 42 years, the BMX track has been a sanctuary of fun for kids and families, and despite COVID-19, we plan to ensure this is still the case." said John David, USA BMX COO. "It is fitting that a series which concludes in Oklahoma (The Grands), the new home of USA BMX, will also have a rebirth in this great state. Our staff has worked tirelessly to create and implement new safety protocols to ensure that our BMX family can return to the race track and enjoy BMX on the national level. This will be a historic race in our sports’ history, and we are proud to host this event in partnership with Nabholz, Mayes County BMX and MidAmerica Industrial Park.”

"I'm thrilled that USA BMX is holding their first post-COVID-19 race at MidAmerica's BMX track in Pryor,” said Oklahoma’s Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell. “While we are still under social distancing policies with spectators at this time, this national race will highlight the new MidAmerica facility in Oklahoma and the specter of live sports will provide much-needed entertainment during these times. The long term effect of having USA BMX races in Oklahoma will result in a great positive economic impact for our state, and we're incredibly excited to have them here."

USA BMX is working with destinations across the country to confirm their ability to host dates for the remainder of the 2020 USA BMX National Championship Series. As is the case with the Bounce Back Nationals, some host sites are being selected for 2020 events based on availability rather than the previously completed 2020 selection process. Future event announcements will come as more events are confirmed.
