The Eugene, Cascades & Coasts Sport Commission is hosting the third session of the Oregon Sports Summit Series on May 17th, 2019, 1-5pm, at Venue 252, (252 Lawrence St) in Eugene, Oregon.
Since the passing of the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 requires national governing bodies and their affiliated youth programs to adhere to very specific guidelines, the topic of this session will be “Creating a SafeSport Culture”. Whether a sports organization falls under these guidelines or not, it is still essential to recognize and prevent abuse in order to keep all youth safe.
Eric Barreras, Training and Technical Assistance Manager from The U.S. Center for SafeSport will be providing an overview of its Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention (MAAP) policies and how sports organizations can create safe environments for its athletes, coaches and administrators.
The U.S. Center for SafeSport has a responsibility to develop policies and procedures to prevent the emotional, physical, and sexual abuse of amateur athletes.
This event is open for anyone involved in sports planning or management from throughout the state of Oregon. Registration: $10.
