Southwest Airlines Co.recently announced an initial flight schedule for Eugene Airport (EUG) in Oregon, bringing the airline’s low fares, flexible policies, and hospitality closer to more outdoor attractions in the Pacific Northwest. Southwest Airlines® will offer nonstop, roundtrip service once daily to Las Vegas and twice daily to Oakland in the Bay Area, bringing additional same-plane or connecting roundtrip service daily between Eugene and more than 30 airports across the Southwest route map.

Beginning Aug. 29, 2021, Southwest will commence service to the second largest airport in Oregon, having served Portland since 1994. Southwest customers will be able to experience the vibrant arts, college athletics, and natural beauty of Eugene and the surrounding region through new service available for purchase now at Southwest.com®.

“When we speak with convention and sports event planners about bringing their events here, they frequently ask if Southwest Airlines serves Eugene,” said Kari Westlund, President & CEO of Travel Lane County. “We are thrilled to welcome Southwest Airlines to the region.”

Southwest Airlines was recruited to the community by a coordinated local effort that secured support from private and public organizations across the region.

Additional Service

The Eugene Airport has also added additional new airlines and non-stop flight options. In March, American Airlines began new daily nonstop service between Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and the Eugene Airport. Startup budget airline Avelo Airlines began service May 12th between Hollywood-Burbank and the Eugene Airport four days a week.

There are now 15 direct flights offered by the Eugene Airport including service to Chicago - O'Hare (United), Dallas-Fort Worth (American), Denver (United), Hollywood/Burbank (Avelo), Las Vegas (Allegiant), Los Angeles (Allegiant, American), Oakland (Allegiant), Palm Springs (Allegiant), Phoenix Sky Harbor (American), Phoenix-Mesa (Allegiant), Portland (Alaska), Salt Lake City (Delta), San Diego (Allegiant), San Francisco (United) and Seattle (Alaska, Delta).*

*Service was suspended between some destinations during the pandemic.

Following the vaccine roll out, more visitors and event attendees to our region will likely translate to an accelerated economic recovery—bringing increased business to the hospitality industry, which includes hotels, restaurants, entertainment/recreation, and retail sectors.
