The Valley Forge Tourism and Convention Board, Valley Forge Sports, and the Willow Grove YMCA announced the largest indoor sporting event to ever be brought to the county, the 2024 YMCA National Gymnastics Championship.

Representatives from Valley Forge Sports and Montgomery County, PA shared details on the tournament, set to be hosted at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center from June 19th to June 25th, 2024.

The event will benefit Montgomery County hotels, contributing over 5,000 room nights and about $5 million in economic impact. This four-to-five-day tournament is an annual, season culminating competition for YMCA gymnasts, cohosted by YMCA of the USA and YMCA of Willow Grove. The event promotes and celebrates the achievements, relationships, and sense of belonging within the YMCA community, while providing competitive opportunities for both male and female athletes. The event is expected to bring over 1,500 athletes, 250 coaches, and 5,000 spectators to the Valley Forge area.

“We are proud to partner with the Willow grove YMCA to host this prestigious event,” said VFTCB’s Director of Sports Jon Scheuren. “We are thrilled to welcome these athletes and families from across the country.”

Valley Forge and Montgomery County are no strangers to hosting national tournaments. Most recently, the area has hosted: 2023 USA Wrestling 14U Boys National Team Duals, 2023 National US Quadball Cup, 2022 NXL Paintball National Tournament, the 2021 Flag Football Life We Run the World Tournament, 2019 & 2022 USA Climbing Sport & Speed Youth National Championships, 2019 LPGA Symetra Tour, 2018 USA Weightlifting American Open Series 2, USA BMX Quaker State National Championship Series in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, and returning fall 2022, and dozens of other annual events and tournaments.

For 175 years, the YMCA has been the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by empowering young people, improving the health and well-being of people of all ages, and inspiring action in and across communities. The National Gymnastics Championship is part of the Y's long-standing tradition to help support the health and well-being of kids. Each year, millions of kids participate in Y youth sports -- like gymnastics and swimming -- which helps build self-confidence and instill the importance of teamwork. The National Gymnastics Championship was first held in 1938, making the 2024 event the YMCA’s 86th annual championship.
