The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce that the 15th Annual “Don’t Give Up the Disc” Beach Ultimate Tournament will be held Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12 at Beach 11 of Presque Isle State Park.
Don’t Give Up the Disc is a fun and competitive ultimate Frisbee tournament played in the sand, hosted by the Erie Ultimate League. Teams are co-ed, with games played four versus four. Event organizers anticipate 12 teams will participate in the 2015 tournament, with teams visiting from Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Rochester, Ontario, and New Jersey, along with local teams.
Games begin at 10 a.m. on each day of competition. The Championship Bracket will compete on Sunday, July 12.
“Erie Ultimate League Enterprises (EULE) was founded to help bring awareness of Ultimate to Erie, and we plan to continue providing our sport for Erie and its youth,” said Hayden Weaver, Founder and Director of EULE. “With the help of the Erie Sports Commission, we would love to grow this tournament to be larger, to expand upon the camaraderie, fun, and competition that this tournament has provided for the past 15 years.”
“Presque Isle and its beaches are the best of what Erie has to offer. Don’t Give Up the Disc is a great example of a local event that has utilized this natural venue and grown into an established event for the community,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “The Erie Sports Commission hopes to support the event to help it grow even more, bringing teams into Erie from out of town so that they may also experience Presque Isle and its beaches while participating in a truly fun event.”
