The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce that Erie has been selected to host the 2015 Pennsylvania State Youth Bowling Open Championships. The event was last held in Erie in 2010.
Greater Erie USBC Youth will host the championships over a span of three weekends on April 11-12, 18-19, and 25-26, 2015. Four competitive divisions will be available for competition, including Four-Person Team Event Divisions, Singles Event Divisions, Doubles Event Divisions, and All Events Divisions. An estimated $30,000 in scholarships will be awarded to participants as prizes throughout the competition.
Competition will be held at Eastway Lanes and Greengarden Lanes.
“Having recently completed the PA State Bowling tournament with much success, Erie seemed like the natural fit for the 2015 youth tournament,” said local tournament director Brett Rearick. “We’re glad to have another major bowling event in town again next year.”
“We are thrilled to have this event come back to Erie,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “Bowling is a great tradition in our city, and to have this prestigious youth bowling tournament held here says that the tradition will continue. We’re looking forward to welcoming youth bowlers and their families from all over Pennsylvania to Erie next April.
