Erie-based organization Archery Encounters will host the Blizzard Bi-Archelon on Saturday, Jan. 25 at Erie Premier Sports Pennbriar. The event is the first USA Archery sanctioned event hosted by Archery Encounters.

Participants will compete in two formats to determine a winner: Indoor Target and 3D. Participants must be members of USA Archery in order to compete, and can register for membership on-site. Competitors will shoot both formats, with scores combined to determine winners. Entrants may shoot one of the formats for qualification purposes only.

Divisions offered will include barebow, recurve, compound, para (including visually impaired, W1, compound open and recurve open) and collegiate bowhunter. A variety of classes will be offered for all ages.

“I would love to see Erie become a premier competitive archery destination capable of hosting international archery competitions,” said Tim Case, owner of Archery Encounters, LLC. “I see this tournament as the first step in achieving that goal.”

Archery Encounters, LLC operates a range in downtown Erie, offering a positive, year-round archery experience for all. Its mission is to be a community-building and bonding asset through the sport of archery, by being accessible, available and affordable.

“Our goal is to continue to showcase the breadth of sporting event options that Erie can host, including during the winter months,” said Mark Jeanneret, Erie Sports Commission executive director. “Archery is a sport growing in popularity, and one that is accessible to many people. We’re looking forward to working with Archery Encounters to expose archery enthusiasts to a new event and to our region.”

Registration is $40 for USA Archery members and is currently open at https://www.usarchery.org.
