Erie Ready to Host Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend

: The Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend is set to start today at Lake Erie Speedway. The event is the second-longest consecutive running auto racing event in North America, second only to the Indianapolis 500.

Six champions will be crowned during the three day-event, including a point battle in the modified race, where current leaders Andy Jankowiak and Patrick Emerling are separated by only two points. 

The event schedule is as follows:

Thursday, Sept. 26– Practice by division, beginning at 4 p.m. (Gates open at 3 p.m.)

Friday, Sept. 27
6 p.m. – Grandstands Open, Hot Laps by Division
7:05 p.m. – Opening Ceremonies, Qualifying Races by Division
                                Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series (10 laps)
                                Race of Champions Super Stock Series (8 laps)
8:15 p.m. – Sportsman Modifieds (12 laps)
                       Race of Champions Super Stocks (10 laps)
8:45 p.m. – Race of Champions Super Stock Feature (40 laps)
9:30 p.m. – Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series (75 laps)

Saturday, Sept. 28
1:00 p.m. – Grandstands Open, Hot Laps by Division (2 rounds)
2 p.m. – Qualifying Races for Race of Champions Four-Cylinder Dash Series (6 laps)
2:30 p.m. – Group Time Trials for Race of Champions Modifieds
                     Qualifying Races by Division (TQ Midgets, Late Models, Modifieds)
4:30 p.m. – Race of Champions Four Cylinder Dash Series Feature (20 laps)
5:15 p.m. – Race of Champions Late Model Series (40 laps)
6 p.m. – Driver Introductions, Race of Champions Introductions
6:20 p.m. – Command to Start Engines
6:30 p.m. – Roll off (8 total pace laps), Green Flag for 69^th Annual Race of Champions 250
