Lake Shore BMX, located in Scott Park, will be the host of the next Erie Sports Commission’s Go Play Days being held on Sunday June 2.
Participants can select from four session times, 10 a.m.; 11:45 a.m.; 1:30 p.m.; and 3:15 p.m.; with each session lasting one hour. Although the event is free, pre-registration is required. Registration for all four sessions opens today and will stay open until full. Each session is limited to 15 participants.
The event is open to participants four and over, the only requirement is previous bike experience that will provide confidence and control while learning BMX Racing.
“We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the exhilaration of BMX Racing firsthand,” said Track Board Member Jason Zboyovski. “We are thrilled to host a Go Play Days at Lake Shore BMX. It’s not just about learning to race, but it’s also about embracing the thrill of the competition, pushing your limits, and discovering the joy of BMX racing.”
Lake Shore BMX has been part of the Erie biking community for 40 years, providing a safe and fun environment for BMX riders. Throughout the year, the track hosts various races offering BMX riders the opportunity to showcase their talents, as well as a three-week program aimed at enhancing riders’ confidence, skills, speed and safety on the track.
The Erie Sports Commission’s Go Play Days program, supported in part by Lamar Advertising and Erie News Now, offers the community an opportunity to participate in a free learn to play event for multiple sports. The aim of the initiative is to increase access to sports to promote healthy lifestyles and improved quality of life.
Previous events have been held with Erie Youth Hockey Association, Erie Pickleball Association and ASCEND Climbing.
