Erie Sports Commission: Power Boat Event Already Sold Out

The Erie Poker Run, which will be held for the first time on June 6, has sold out. Sixty boats will participate in the new go-fast powerboat event, which will begin and end at Wolverine Park Marina on Presque Isle Bay.

Three new performance boats will be part of the Erie Poker Run. Vincent Diorio of Richfield, Wis. will show off his Outerlimits SL 41 V-Bottom powerboat at the event. The bright orange and green 1,400 horsepower boat debuted at the Miami International Boat Show in February.  Double-R Performance of Toronto, Canada, which sponsors the event, will bring a new 390 center console Nor-Tech boat, powered by quad Mercury Racing Verado 400 engines, that also debuted at the Miami Boat Show.

Michigan performance boater Burton Kirsten will debut his brand-new 39 SC Catamaran from Outerlimits. The boat will stand out with its fluorescent green paint job, sleek design, and twin 1,100-horsepower engines, which allow it to reach a top speed of 160 miles per hour.

Spectators of the event will have the opportunity to see all 60 boats along the waterfront, and speak with sponsors and crews of the boats at Wolverine Marina and the Sheraton Erie Bayfront Hotel.

The event is being organized by Tony Scioli of Elite Poker Runs, LLC. Performance boating enthusiasts from across the United States and Canada will convene on Erie and parade around Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie, making five stops at local establishments to complete a poker hand.
