Gem City Lacrosse Returns to Erie This Weekend; Bass Event Also Ready to Cast Off

Gem City Lacrosse, hosted by Lax Bash, returns to Erie this Saturday and Sunday with games at the Erie Insurance Fields in McKean Township and Penn West University.
 

The tournament will feature over 50 boys and girls teams in 9U-18U divisions from Michigan, Ohio, New York, Ontario and Pennsylvania.
 

“We are thrilled to bring the Gem City Lacrosse tournament back to Erie,” said Brian Kaminskas, owner of Lax Bash Tournaments. “This event is a fantastic opportunity for young athletes to compete at a high level and for families to enjoy a weekend of lacrosse.”
 

Lax Bash has held tournaments in Erie County the past three years, drawing over 1,000 participants to the county. Lax Bash is committed to promoting lacrosse through well-organized, highly competitive events that prioritize positive experiences for young athletes.
 

In addition to lacrosse, the 22nd edition of Don’t Give up the Disc-Beach Ultimate frisbee tournament hosted by Erie Ultimate League Enterprises will take place on Beach 11 at Presque Isle State Park this weekend. Games will be played from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday. Fifteen teams from Canada, Buffalo, Rochester, Cleveland, Akron, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Erie will compete.
 

“The beach ultimate event is a unique and exhilarating part of our weekend festivities,” said Hayden Weaver, founder of Erie Ultimate League Enterprises. “It’s a great way to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Presque Isle while engaging in a fun and competitive sport.”
 

Anglers will also gather this Saturday at the West Pier Marina for the Keystone Bass Buddies Circuit. The event kicks off at 7 a.m. with check-in set for 3 p.m. and weigh-in beginning at 3:30 p.m.
