Annual Tournament Series Kicks Off April 8-10 with Shoot the Rock Future Stars Classic

The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce the Keystone Hoops Group 2016 Tournament Schedule, which will kick off the season with the Shoot the Rock Future Stars Classic, held April 8-10, 2016.

The Shoot the Rock Spring Classic will be held May 20-22, followed by the Shoot the Rock Summer Jam June 17-19, and the Shoot the Rock Back to School Jam, held August 12-14. All tournaments carry a four game guarantee, and will be held at various locations in Erie.

All tournaments are open to boys teams in 4th through 11th grade, and girls teams from 5th to 11th grade, with games being held at Family First Sports Park and Central Tech High School. Winners of the Shoot the Rock Future Stars Classic in April will receive a free bid in the National Qualifier tournaments, to be held in Erie. The Shoot the Rock Spring Classic in May will serve as the girls’ national qualifier, and the Shoot the Rock Summer Jam in June will serve as the boys’ national qualifier. The champions of each national qualifier tournament will receive a free bid to the National NTBA Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Tournament organizers expect nearly 100 teams to compete in the national qualifier tournaments.

Admission to each tournament is $6, $3 for seniors, and free for children under 10. Tournament schedules will be available on the Keystone Hoops app in advance of each tournament.

“Our tournaments keep basketball alive for regional youth teams through the spring and summer months,” said Cory Coleman, CEO of Keystone Hoops Group, LLC. “Our steady partnership with the Erie Sports Commission has helped to make that possible, and I’m looking forward to another great tournament season in 2016.”

“Cory has established a great tournament series for Erie that is a consistent draw for out-of-town teams,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “I’d encourage any team looking to travel to come be part of this great series and experience our great city along with it.”
