National Cheer and Dance Championships Set for April in Erie

The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce a cheer and dance national championship will be held at the Erie Insurance Arena in 2015. The Splash into Spring Lake Erie National Cheer and Dance Championships will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2015. Three full paid bids to the U.S. Finals will be awarded at the meet.

The event is the final competition in the “Battle of Lake Erie,” a series of six Cheer and Dance events in cities along Lake Erie. Champion Cheer Central, which will host the event, expects approximately 100 teams and more than 1500 athletes to participate in the meet.

Registration for the event is now open at www.championcheercentral.com.

Registration for all-star cheer and dance teams is $55 per participant if registered by February 10, $60 before March 13, and $65 for registrations made after March 14, 2015. Registration for school and recreational cheer and dance teams is $50 if registered by February 10, $55 by March 13, and $60 per participant for registrations made after March 14, 2015.

Admission to the event is $12 for adults, $6 for children, and free for those 5 and under.

“With the help of the Erie Sports Commission, our 2014 event exceeded our expectations, bringing over 800 athletes to Erie,” said Heather Petz of Champion Cheer Central. “By making it a national event, our hope is to exceed expectations once again and provide these cheerleaders with both a fun and highly-competitive event.”
