The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce that The Pennsylvania Yo-Yo Slam will be held once again at Erie’s Bayfront Convention Center. This is the third consecutive year that the tournament will be held in Erie, and its second year at the Bayfront Convention Center.
YoYoSam will sponsor the competition, which will be held on Saturday, November 21 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The contest is expected to attract as many as 50 competitors.
YoYoSam is the largest yo-yo store in the world, located in Fairview, PA.
An after-event party for participants will be held at YoYoSam immediately following the tournament.
Registration is currently open for the 1a and Open Divisions for $25 per person.
“This year, we have completely changed the format of the competition to make it more TV-friendly and fast-moving, including adding live scoring from the judges and audience scoring for the finals. These features have made big waves in the yo-yo community, and bring the audience into the action,” said Mitch Silver, owner of YoYoSam. “This is a fun event for yo-yoers as well as people who have never seen a yo-yo contest. If you are new to yo-yo competition, prepare to be amazed!”
“Mitch has created a great event that allows young players from across the state to showcase their unique talent,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “The competition continues to expand each year, and it has truly become an asset to our community.”
