Presque Isle Open Martial Arts Tournament Set at Family First

The Erie Sports Commission (ESC) is pleased to announce the Presque Isle Open Martial Arts Tournament is returning to Erie on Saturday, June 11. This one-day event hosted by Volkenburg Taekwondo and Fitness Center, will be held at Family First Sports Park.

The Presque Isle Open Martial Arts Tournament is based around five category events: Board Breaking, Open Poomsae, Weapons Forms, Synchronized Poomsae, and World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Olympic Sparring.

Participants will be grouped into either a Junior or Senior Division for both males and females, which house multiple age groups that are specific to each event category. The Synchronized Poomsae event requires a team of two, three, or five participants.

The pre-registration period runs until May 21, which includes a pre-registration fee for $55 for one event, and $10 for each additional event. Late or on-site registration will be $70 for one event, and $10 for each additional event.

“Last year’s tournament was a huge success that we know will continue to grow in Erie, and working alongside the Erie Sports Commission will most definitely help accomplish that goal,” said Tournament Director Keith Von Volkenburg. “Hosting the event at Family First Sports Park couldn’t have been an easier decision. Its top-notch facilities are able to house everyone who wishes to come out and enjoy some quality martial arts.”
