Pro-Am Classic Coming to Butler County

The PGA Tri-State Section along with Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau will be hosting the 2019 Butler County Pro-Am Fall Golf Classic September 30 - October 2. This three-day golf tournament will take place at Conley Resort & Golf Club, Cranberry Highlands Golf Course, and the Butler Country Club.

Amateur golfers with teams of four will be paired with a PGA professional throughout the tournament. Registration is $1,500 per team and includes course play, meals and accommodations.

The deadline to register is September 25. There will be a variety of gifts and prizes. $20K Purse for Professionals. $10K Purse for Amateurs redeemable at the Butler Country Club Golf Shop.

This is a charitable event and proceeds will benefit the Moraine Preservation Fund, a non-profit organization led by volunteers who educate the public and aid in maintaining the natural resources within three of the most visited parks in the region; Moraine State Park, Jennings Environmental Education Center and McConnell's Mill State Park.

“We are very excited to host this tournament. Butler County features a dozen golf courses, all within

half an hour of each other. Our courses are surrounded by wooded hills, panoramic views and create a fun and challenging game for scratch golfers and raw beginners alike ,” said Jack Cohen, President of the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau.

A banquet will take place at the Pittsburgh Marriott North on Monday evening, September 30 and an awards ceremony will conclude the Butler County Pro-Am Fall Golf Classic after participants finish playing at the Butler Country Club on Wednesday, October 2.

ABOUT THE PGA TRI-STATE SECTION: The Tri-State PGA is a “Section” of the Professional Golfers Association of America. It was founded in December 1921 and was originally named the Western Pennsylvania Section. When the National PGA decided to break up the original seven Sections, the state of West Virginia and the Northwest corner of Maryland were added to the boundaries of the Western PA Section.

In 1923, the name was changed to the Tri-State Section. For over 90 years, the 390 PGA Members and Apprentices at over 200 facilities in Western Pennsylvania, Western Maryland and the state of West Virginia have served the golfing community with numerous programs and services designed to enhance their enjoyment of the game of golf!

As the Tri-State Section’s mission statement points out, the objective of the TSPGA is to establish the section as a viable, valuable and visible organization within the golfing community.
