An influx of youth athletes will help drive York County’s busy summer tourism season, with wrestling and girls fast-pitch softball events set to pump about $1.4 million into the community this June.

USA Wrestling’s 2017 Cadet National Duals will return to the York Expo Center from June 13-17. About 1,000 elite youth wrestlers will compete in the precursor to the annual Cadet National Championships.

Top state-level teams comprised of wrestlers born in 2001 and 2002 will compete in two Olympic styles: Greco-Roman and Freestyle.

According to York County Convention & Visitors Bureau estimates, the Cadet Duals will drive about $1.2 million in economic benefits into York County.

Two weeks of prestigious softball competitions will sandwich the Cadet Duals. The USA Team Softball 10U/12U East State Tournaments come to the City of York’s Memorial Park this June 9-11, with the 14U/16U “A” State Tournaments set for June 23-25.

Collectively, the softball tournaments will draw more than 350 people to York County and generate more than $200,000 in economic benefits.

June’s sporting events will serve as a prelude to the Keystone State Games, Presented by York College of Pennsylvania. The state’s largest amateur athletic festival will return to York County for the third consecutive summer this July.
