VisitPITTSBURGH is proud to present the Pittsburgh Global Health (PGH) & Safety Commitment, which highlights the wide range of health and safety commitments put forward by the Pittsburgh hospitality and tourism communities, prioritizing the health and wellbeing of our residents and visitors.
The PGH Commitment is a mutual pledge between the Pittsburgh hospitality and tourism communities and the region’s residents and visitors. It is centered on demonstrating to leisure travelers and event organizers that the Pittsburgh hospitality and tourism partners are aligned in exceeding the highest expectations when it comes to health and safety.
The information presented through the PGH Commitment is an aggregate of in-place protocols from the Pittsburgh International Airport, local venues, businesses, transportation operations, restaurants, hotels, retailers, attractions and more.
The PGH Commitment adheres to the health practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Health Departments and the City of Pittsburgh. The information shared is a visitor resource and not legal recommendations for visiting Pittsburgh.
“Leisure travelers and business and sports event organizers want to feel confident that destinations have state-of-the-art health and safety protocols, vetted by health officials, firmly in place,” VisitPITTSBURGH President & CEO Jerad Bachar said. “We believe Pittsburghers and visitors alike deserve a unique commitment tailored to their specific needs.”
VisitPITTSBURGH consulted with the city’s prestigious medical and health organizations and received guidance from several engaged stakeholders and partners, both within the hospitality and tourism industries as well as across other sectors, throughout the creation and development of the commitment.
The PGH Commitment is a baseline for VisitPITTSBURGH and its two divisions, SportsPITTSBURGH and MeetPITTSBURGH. All planning and protocols for future events will be built under the scope of the commitment, which will ensure that event organizers are presenting safe event plans and guidelines that are in-step with the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Health Departments.
“It is critical that we begin to safely and successfully bring business and sports events and meetings back to the Pittsburgh region, as they are a lifeline to the local economy and generate significant economic benefits to our community,” Bachar added.
It is important to note that the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, PPG Paints Arena and the Petersen Events Center, managed by ASM Global, have implemented the VenueShield Environmental Hygiene Program. Created by ASM Global, the world’s largest venue management & services company, the VenueShield program offers best practices across work streams related to environmental hygiene, food service, customer journey, talent, public awareness and technology and equipment, including state-of-the-art standard operating procedures for environmental hygiene.
VisitPITTSBURGH is the official tourism marketing and promotion agency for Pittsburgh and Allegheny County. It is dedicated to generating business events, sports events and leisure travel business for the Pittsburgh region.
